Are personal training costs tax-deductible?
As a self-employed person, staying fit and feeling great is important, and hiring a personal trainer is a great way to achieve that.
However, just like with a gym membership, the costs for a personal trainer are unfortunately not considered business expenses, but personal costs.
We don’t recommend claiming personal training expenses, as it would be difficult to justify them in the event of a tax audit.
Exceptions
If you work in a profession where physical fitness is crucial (such as a top athlete, fitness instructor, etc.), you might be able to link the costs to your professional activity.
However, these expenses are still mainly seen as personal costs, and any (partial) deduction is entirely at your own risk.
